Have you seen an eye doctor? Also, it might be a food allergy, which can be difficult to diagnose. Have you tried an elimination diet to rule out certain foods?

I find this question . . . odd considering we're supposedly the "fattest" country on the planet.

However, I do know what you're talking about. Here's the thing: Not all of us are interested in being medicated, but for some reason, this sh*t sells. A lot of us are fully aware that the medications are probably more trouble than they are worth. My fiance suffers from depression, and he refuses to get medicated, and I don't blame him in the least.

But this does make you wonder what kind of affect this is having on our outrageous health care costs. In the critical thinking class I teach, one of my groups decided to do their argumentative project on the cost of health care as it relates to the rising number of prescriptions. Most of them worked in health care, and they discovered that the marketing of these ads is so vague that many people can identify with the symptoms of the supposed diseases they claim to treat. The group explained that consumers ask their physicians about the medications. The physicians are getting kickbacks from the drug companies, so they are all too happy to oblige. And boom: the demand for prescriptions goes up, and the cost follows.

It's sad and pathetic that our government isn't acknowledging this. Instead of addressing the reasons for the cost of health care, they'd rather raise taxes and give free health care to everyone. Go figure.

We are the products of a capitalist society. Advertisers spend BILLIONS to coerce, intimidate, threaten and terrorize us into buying their products. They spend BILLIONS to insure that we become convinced that we cannot live without their products. But WAIT, it gets BETTER. The portion of the population that cannot AFFORD these products (that they have been convinced that they NEED) resort to stealing them and then we spend BILLIONS to incarcerate them for the theft.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!

Peace.

Yes,it is true...We have come to be very much,a medicinal drug dependent people..Of course the phamaceutical companys are major contributors to this rampant phenomenon....

We are a society that has bought into the idea, that all we need to do, to maintain good health, is to simply treat the symtom...the underlying root cause of sickness, discomfort and disease is almost totally ignored...

One excellent book that I might recommend is;"Sick and Tired",authored by Dr. Robert O. Young,Bio-Chemist and 4x PHD,in health related sciences.

Silly Brit... A small percentage of the population are willing to pay good money for these ridiculously over-priced drugs, which is why they are offered for sale. They have to list the possible negative side-effects because that's the law, and those possible side-effects are why 98% of the population do not even consider using them.

You can't tell me that there aren't at least a few ignorant Brits who are as short-sighted as the Americans you're poking fun at. Go home.

And a note to ch33sus ... Restless Leg Syndrome is real. Look it up, if you can. Next time do a little research before you open your mouth ~ there may not be room for your other foot.

Actually we are still susceptible a sort of 19th century patent medication mentality. After all, how would the manufacturers and advertisers of these avenues of true health be able to afford their mink lined Bentleys without such rampant gullibility.
